Many people will start a sentence with the phrase “Scientists have proven …”, and then continue on with whatever nonsense they want you to believe! What is even worse is that many scientists use the authority of their position to do this also! Scientists are just people, and they need money, just like you and me. Scientists go to businesses looking for money for their research. Business only funds research that will prove something that will help sell their product. The tobacco industry has been exposed so often for doing this, for so long, that nowadays just about everyone knows tobacco smoking kills people. Unfortunately this was well known by many intelligent people in the scientific community long before they stopped taking money from the tobacco industry.
Nowadays we are seeing various people in the scientific community come out with research linking disease, death, and deformity directly to the consumption of meat, and milk products. We are also seeing research showing that the growth hormones, antibiotics, and general drug cocktails administrated to animals in the meat industry remain in their dead flesh and are taken into the bodies of the people that eat them.
We are also seeing scientists still willing to take money from the meat and diary industry for saying meat and diary is good for you! Just like cigarettes are good for you.
The old tobacco campaigns are the new meat and diary campaigns.
During the 1920s, Lucky Strike was the dominant cigarette brand. This brand, made by American Tobacco Company, was the first to use the image of a physician in its advertisements. “20,679 physicians say ‘Luckies are less irritating,” its advertisements proclaimed. The advertising firm that promoted Lucky Strikes had sent physicians free cartons of the cigarettes and asked them whether Lucky Strikes were less irritating to ‘sensitive and tender’ throats. The company claimed that its toasting process made its cigarettes a smoother smoke.
By the mid-1930s, Lucky Strike had some competition. A new advertising campaign for Philip Morris referred to research conducted by physicians. One ad claimed that after prescribing Philip Morris brand cigarettes to patients with irritated throats, “every case of irritation cleared completely or definitely improved.” This series of advertisements, along with others referring to “proof” of superiority, made Philip Morris a major cigarette brand for the first time in its history.
Now we have the meat industry and dairy industry doing the same.
