Another starting point for vegans, especially female vegans, is when the realize how their cosmetics are created. The reason cosmetics never cause more than minor irritation to the wearer’s skin is because the cosmetic industry has extensively tested their chemical concoctions on many innocent animals before the products are approved by their ‘ethics’ committees for usage on humans.
Each test requires dozens of innocent animals to have their fur shaved and varying dosages of dangerous chemicals applied to their skin. The animals are kept in cages beside each other in the laboratory with the dosage clearly labelled along with the date it was applied. Unfeeling people observe the animals developing pain on a regular basis of the period of the trial recording exactly how long each specific dosage takes to do its damage to the victim. These results are then used to provide empirical evidence to the ‘ethics’ committees that the dosages they wish to deploy for human testing should not cause the consumer a problem.
This animal testing is particularly revolting when it comes to eye makeup. The animals abused for testing will usually end up blind, as well as in massive pain, before they get to the point the beauty industry has no more use for them and they are killed.
